About Torsten Schack Pedersen
Torsten Schack Pedersen is Denmark’s Minister for Resilience and Preparedness, a position he has held since 29 August 2024. Member of the Folketing for the Liberal Party (Venstre) since 2005, he represents the North Jutland constituency and has accumulated extensive parliamentary experience, including spokesperson roles covering finance, trade and industry, immigration, and telecommunications.
In his ministerial capacity, Pedersen is responsible for civil protection, cybersecurity, disaster prevention and emergency management, and coordination of national crisis preparedness. He has led efforts to strengthen state-municipal cooperation in emergency services, advance a national cybersecurity strategy, and enhance Denmark’s resilience through both domestic policy reforms and international collaboration.
He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Copenhagen (2004) and has been actively involved in political leadership within Venstre since his early career. Married to MP Louise Schack Elholm, Pedersen is the father of two.
