About Dara Murphy
Mr. Murphy is an experienced public policy executive with a distinguished career spanning both national and European institutions. He currently serves as CEO of Epecon Limited and as Senior Advisor at Rasmussen Global in Brussels.
Previously, he has held senior political and advisory roles, including Vice President of the European People’s Party (EPP), EU election campaign director for the EPP, and Cabinet Expert at the European Commission. At national level, he served as Irish Minister for Data Protection, the Digital Single Market, and European Affairs, where he played a central role in Brexit negotiations and European policy coordination.
With deep experience and strong networks across all EU member states and beyond, he brings a unique perspective on European decision-making – from the Commission and Parliament to the Council and national governments. His policy expertise spans research and innovation, Horizon Europe, the Green Deal, Brexit, education, the digital economy, and data protection.
He holds a degree in Economics and French from University College Cork and is a Certified Data Protection Officer from University College Dublin. Skilled in media relations, international relations, policy analysis, strategic planning, and public affairs, he combines political insight with business acumen to deliver impact across sectors.
